Why Airport Jobs Is the Front Door to Sea-Tac Hiring
Many separate companies keep the airport running, from the carriers at the gates to the concession operators running the coffee counters and the contractors moving bags below. Each one hires on its own, which makes the job hunt feel scattered. Airport Jobs calls itself the primary recruiting resource for people looking for work at SEA, and its services cost nothing.
Staff can walk you through current openings, pair you with a career navigator, help with online applications, tighten a resume and run interview practice. The first step is the online job search registration on the Port Jobs site, then a visit or a call. The office posts its own airport job listings too.
Getting there is easy without a car. The 1 Line drops you at SeaTac/Airport Station, and the office sits in the main terminal near Skybridge 2.
✅ The Badge Is the Hurdle, and There's Free Prep for It
Most airport jobs behind the scenes require an airport ID badge, and that means passing security tests before you can start. Port Jobs runs a free Airport ID SIDA badge test training every Tuesday from 8:30 AM to 12:00 PM, starting November 3 and running through March 16, 2027. The Port Jobs calendar aims it at new SEA hires who already have a job offer, so land the offer first, then book the class.
Ask your hiring manager how the badge process works for your role, including any background check or fingerprinting and how long it usually takes, so your start date doesn't surprise you.
🍽️ Food Worker Card Classes Every Wednesday
Restaurant and concession jobs in Washington require a state food worker card. Port Jobs holds food worker card training every Wednesday from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM, starting November 4 and continuing through March 17, 2027. November sessions fall on the 4th, 11th, 18th and 25th. Port Jobs says all of its services are free. Questions go to [email protected] or (206) 258-8971.
Having the card in hand before Thanksgiving week makes you ready on day one for the airport's busiest stretch.
🎓 Already Working There? Keep Climbing
Port Jobs also runs Airport University, which offers free, credit-bearing college classes at the airport through Highline College and South Seattle College. Classes are scheduled around airport shifts and cover customer service, business technology, leadership, logistics and more. Pathways point toward aviation maintenance, ground support equipment repair, air cargo and pilot training.
Current SEA employees in an aviation program can apply for an Alaska Airlines Airport University scholarship of $1,000 toward tuition or flight training. The Port Jobs calendar shows a pre-application deadline of November 24 for the winter 2027 round. Port Jobs' scholarship page describes a summer application window, so confirm the current deadline at (206) 258-8980 before you count on it.
💵 A Word on Airport-Area Pay
SeaTac sets its own minimum wage for covered hospitality and transportation employers: $20.74 an hour in 2026, according to Washington L&I. Coverage depends on the employer and the job, and the address where the work is performed decides which floor applies, not where you live. Ask about pay and coverage before you accept an offer.
